Bike to School Day
Held each fall, students and parents walk/bike/scoot/skateboard to school for the love of our air and earth! The Home & School Club provides coffee and a small breakfast to those who participate.
Our SCG students perform African and folk dance routines. Not to be missed!
Dia del Niño
Our English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) sponsors treats for students on “Children’s Day”.
Drive for Schools
Drive for schools is one of the best fundraisers around. Sponsored by the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Toyota/Subaru of Santa Cruz, this fundraiser raised over half a million dollars last year alone! And so far over 3 million in its past 11 years.
Each ticket is $5 and a pack of 6 is $25. Purchase some tickets to help out a local public school and maybe you will win. There are hundreds of local prizes as well as ten $1,000 cash prizes!
This event is on hold for this year while we determine how best to restructure this fun community event.
This fun end-of-the-year event happens during school. There are fun games hosted and organized by the 5th grade students that is followed by running races in the afternoon. Come cheer on all the kids.
Love of Reading Week
Held each spring, this event includes Pages & PJ’s, where very special guest readers read favorite stories, the Stuffed Animal Sleepover, a poster contest, mystery readers over the school intercom, schoolwide “Drop Everything And Read” announcements, and a book-themed dress-up day.
Children learn and perform a variety of songs during daytime performances. Parents are welcome to attend, but get there early as these events are often “standing room only”.
Outdoor Science School
5th grade students spend the four days at an ‘away’ camp to learn about science and themselves. It’s a memorable experience for a participants.
The Read-A-Thon is fundraiser to encourage and promote reading. It is intended to coincide with the Pages and PJs event.
Come help make our school beautiful! Past projects have included: building a raised garden box, planting fruit trees, painting benches in the amphitheater, repairing and replacing the ball wall, and more!
SCG students design, create, and display their science projects in the MU as well as the Santa Cruz County Science and Engineering Fair. Recent award-winning projects have included a Behavioral & Social Sciences project, “Cooperative Testing in Minecraft,” as well as a Computer Science project, “Follow the Bouncing Ball — A Web Animation Project.”
Show your SCG dolphin pride by participating in one of these fun events held throughout the year. Recent spirit days included a “Twin Day” and “Pajama Day”.
Staff Appreciation Week
We love to show our appreciation by offering thanks and by providing yummy treats and food for our teachers and staff throughout the selected week. The H&SC also provides our teachers with a catered sit down lunch.
Our annual Variety Show features SCG students’ unique talents including singing, dancing, telling jokes, magic acts, and much more. The event is great fun for both performers and audience members!
Let’s get moving! Each year, SCG kids participate in this healthy and fun activity while raising money either as a flat donation or per lap.
