These family-friendly events bring the SCG community together! Check our calendar for the exact dates and times of our H&SC-sponsored events.

Drive for Schools
Drive for Schools is one of the best fundraisers around. Buy tickets to win a $25,000 cash prize or dozens of other local prizes. Tickets are sold every fall and 100% of sales goes to our school. Sponsored by the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, this fundraiser has raised over 3 million in its past 11 years.
Bike to School Day
Held each fall, students and parents walk/bike/scoot/skateboard to school for the love of our air and earth! The Home & School Club provides coffee and a small breakfast to those who participate.
Love of Reading Week
Held each spring, the Love of Reading Week includes a Read-A-Thon, a Scholastic Book Fair, a Pages & PJs event (where very special guests read their favorite stories!), the Stuffed Animal Sleepover, a poster contest, mystery readers over the school intercom, school-wide “Drop Everything And Read” announcements, and a book-themed dress-up day.
Let’s get moving! Each year, SCG kids participate in this healthy and fun activity while raising money either as a flat donation or per lap.
The Annual Auction is our largest fundraiser of the year! Whether virtual or in-person, this auction is an opportunity to purchase many local goods and services while supporting our school’s music, life lab, art, and dance programs. We encourage all families to participate in this important fundraising event!
Dia del Niño
Our English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) sponsors treats for students on “Children’s Day.”
Outdoor Science School
Our fifth grade students spend the four days at an ‘away’ camp to learn about science and themselves. It’s a memorable experience for all participants.
SCG students design, create, and display their science projects in the MU as well as the Santa Cruz County Science and Engineering Fair. Recent award-winning projects have included a Behavioral & Social Sciences project, “Cooperative Testing in Minecraft,” as well as a Computer Science project, “Follow the Bouncing Ball — A Web Animation Project.”
Staff Appreciation Week
We love our SCG teachers and staff!!! Staff Appreciation Week is a great opportunity for us to express our gratitude with cards, thank you notes, and student artwork. We provide yummy treats for our teachers and staff throughout the week as well!
Dining for Dollars
Take the night off from cooking and meet up with other SCG families at Chili’s, Pizza My Heart, Chipotle, Yogurtland, Shadowbrook, and other restaurants and earn 30–-50% for SCG. Dining for Dollars fundraisers happen throughout the year — check our home page, calendar, or Facebook page for the next event.
Santa Cruz Warriors
See a Warriors basketball game and support our school! The best part? Your child is entered into a raffle and has a chance to play some b-ball on the court with their peers in front of 2,500 screaming fans! Stay tuned for dates and details.
Show your SCG “dolphin pride” by participating in one of these fun events held throughout the year. Recent spirit days included a “Twin Day” and “Pajama Day.” We also have a spirit week focused on Bullying Prevention to show we are a school community united against bullying!
Cool off with a delicious popsicle after school on Fridays (minimum days). Parent volunteers from each class sell popsicles and pencils to earn money for SCG.
Children learn and perform a variety of songs during daytime performances. Parents are welcome to attend, but get there early as these events are often “standing room only.”
Our SCG students perform African and folk dance routines. Not to be missed!
Come help make our school beautiful! Past projects have included: building a raised garden box, planting fruit trees, painting benches in the amphitheater, repairing and replacing the ball wall, and more!
