Volunteer with the Home and School Club
Strong parent participation at Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary enables the Home and School Club to offer special programs and events for our children above and beyond what the state of California can provide. Here are some ideas on ways for you to make a difference for our school and your child’s future:
Become a Room Parent for Your Child’s Classroom
A Room Parent is a lead parent who organizes classroom parties, classroom communications about Home and School Club Fundraisers and events, and coordinates volunteers for classroom and school-wide events as directed by the teacher and the Home and School Club. Room Parents are responsible for either attending monthly meetings (first Monday of most months from 6:00–7:30 PM) or finding another parent from the class who will attend the meetings in your place. This position can be held effectively by either working or non-working parents. If more than one person serves as the Room Parent in a classroom, the duties can be divided up.

Additionally, monetary donations to the Home & School Club are always accepted (via check or PayPal) and are tax deductible. These donations fund many important school programs including life lab, science, music, art, and dance as well as classroom materials.
